About Us

How Trotton Players Started

Every great story has a beginning, and ours started with a simple idea.

In March 2026, a stack of leaflets was delivered to homes across Trotton and the surrounding villages, inviting anyone with an interest in theatre to get involved. We had no cast, no committee and no production – just a hope that a few people might say yes.

They did.

A handful of enthusiastic locals came forward, bringing with them laughter, talent, encouragement and a willingness to try something new. Those first conversations soon turned into rehearsals, friendships and the birth of Trotton Players.

We're still at the very beginning of our journey, proving that all it takes is one idea, a few brave volunteers and a community willing to come together to create something special.

Who knows where the next leaflet – or the next person to join – might take us?

First Read Through

This is where it all began.

After the leaflets went through doors across Trotton and the surrounding villages, a handful of strangers answered the call. We met for the very first time with no script, no stage and no idea where the journey would take us.

What we did have was enthusiasm, plenty of laughter and a shared belief that our village could create something special together.

Standing around the Trotton signpost, we weren't just meeting future cast members – we were forming friendships and laying the foundations of what would become Trotton Players.

From that first evening grew rehearsals, countless cups of tea, forgotten lines, backstage hugs and, eventually, a standing ovation.

Every great production starts with a first act – and this was ours..

Creating the stage

For Trouble in Trotton, I designed and built a village hall set packed with familiar details. The walls were covered with community posters, local notices and village announcements, creating a backdrop that felt instantly recognisable and gave the audience the feeling they were really sitting in the heart of a busy village.
